A new Tachyon App that allows shooters to connect their devices, via the camera’s wifi, allows users to select zoom levels, reticle style
They can live-stream, record, and immediately play back their video files while in the field.

Users will have a choice of four reticle styles, or no reticle. They may choose the one that best suits their need or the one that is most visible in their shooting environment.

GunCam® is plug-and-Play to Macs and PC’s. For best results use the VLC Media Player for pausing, playback in slow motion, and zooming. Users can play back on their big screen TVs through an HDMI cable.

GunCam® users will also be able to choose from between the already very tight-view lens and three other levels of digital zoom for the most distant shots.

Playback speed inside the App’s video player can be slowed to 10%, 20%, or 30%, which are the ideal settings for checking and adjusting your shooting while in the field.

While recording without the Wi-Fi connection, users may tap the power button to pause recording, and tap again to start recording again. This saves shooters not only battery power, but many minutes of wasted video that they would have to sort through to find their shots. With the GunCam there is no need to close the gun hard to start recording.

GunCam® may use up to 256GB memory cards for saving up to 24 hours of video. (Memory cards are sold separately). The built-in Lithium rechargeable battery will give a solid 2.5 hours of recording on a full charge. It can also be continuously charged from a power bank, enabling a full day of recording hunting video.

GunCam® records in 1080p at 60 frames per second for the smoothest video playback, or in Quad HD at 30 frames per second. The sound quality is always top notch.

Included with the camera are four pairs of mounting pads designed for 12, 20 and 28 gauge O/U (over and under), semi or pump shotguns.

There’s a new player in the digital, gun mounted camera arena. Tachyon Inc. has released the 2018 GunCam for clays and hunting – a feature packed and easy to use, barrel mounted video and audio recorder that sells for $300.

Tachyon launched their first product line 10 years ago, with models focused on motorcycles, bicycling, law enforcement and military applications. The company’s product is currently popular in the pistol and 3 Gun shooting arena using a hat mounted version.
USPSA, IDPA, IPSC, and 3 Gun competitors and trainers find it valuable for diagnosis of technique and use it to improve their scores. Seeing an opportunity in the shotgun market, the company was introduced to University of Maryland Shotgun Team coach Anne Mauro by World Champion pistol shooter Julie Golob. A shotgun mounted camera was a new concept to Tachyon at that time, so in 2015 Ms. Mauro helped the company develop the shotgun version of their camera.

Today’s lightweight, 2nd generation model 2018 GunCam is the direct result of that product development partnership with Ms. Mauro.

Feature Packed

The latest version of the GunCam, weighing in at five ounces, is WiFi equipped, and can wirelessly stream to any iOS, Android, Mac and PC device either in real time, or in playback fashion.
Video can be recorded with or without crosshairs, in Quatro HD-30 fps or 1080p HD-60 fps.
Recordings at 60 frames per second are fast enough to show the shot cloud on many recordings, making it easier to identify the cause when you miss.

One charge, which is done via the provided USB cord, lasts three hours. An on board micro SD is used to hold recordings and can be removed to transfer files to a computer, if so desired. Micro SD cards as large as 128GB are compatible.
The GunCam comes with a rubber padded, universal mount that works for 12G, 20G, 28G and .410 bore shotguns.
A mechanical ball joint type swivel mechanism allows easy crosshair alignment, which is done using a hex wrench.

The user mounts the lens around five and a half inches from the muzzle, points at an object while streaming to a viewing device, and manually turns the camera on its swivel mount until crosshairs are lined up with the point of impact.

The unit is then tightened down securely. Rubber padding eliminates the chance of marring of barrels, and when properly mounted the unit is not visible to the user when gun is mounted.

Dove, waterfowl, and upland bird hunters will like the option of crosshairs-free recording.

Ease of Use
Operation is simple. An audible beep is emitted when the unit is turned on, and red and green LEDs show the record/pause status.
Another button activates the WiFi function, and a third button toggles between 30 and 60 frames per second.
Once recording, one tap pauses, and another tap resumes the recording process.
Playback to iOS and Android phones and tablets can be done with a free software app called RoadCam.
High quality audio is captured as well. Tachyon recommends MAC and PC users use VLC, a free video/audio software that allows a high degree of playback speed and zooming adjustment. Using VLC, playback can be advanced one frame at a time if desired, speed can be adjusted in various increments, and zooming is easy.

University of Maryland shotgun team coach and NRA certified instructor Anne Mauro says,

The New 2018 Tachyon gun camera has been designed to secure on 12, 20, 28 gauge, pump action, O/U and semiautomatic shotguns without modification of the gun and without danger of scratching.

Wi-Fi Streaming is a big plus for shooters who can play back their shots immediately on their phones or tablets without leaving the field. This allows them to correct any mistakes they discover, right there on the range. Coaches will also be impressed with how this will allow them to view their students’ shooting with a live feed directly from the barrel of their students’ guns.

Our new adjustable mount enables users to fine tune the camera’s aim for different shooting situations. The lightness of both camera and mount will not affect the gun’s balance, and the position will be completely out of the shooter’s line of sight.

Our latest upgraded feature gives you the ability to pause your recording with one simple tap of the power button. When you finish shooting one stand, simple tap the power button to pause recording, and then tap it again when you are ready to shoot your next stand. When playing back your video you will find that it much easier to view without all the wasted footage in between the action.

As before, there is no need for users to manually adjust the crosshairs. Our mechanical alignment, built into the camera housing, was refined using a laser pointer shot shell. This gives you great flexibility when moving the camera from one gun to another because it eliminates the need for you to go through the complicated process of realigning your camera again.
This makes it the ideal tool for shooting coaches who may want to quickly move the camera around from gun to gun.

With our new auto-shutoff feature, you will never have to worry if you have accidentally turned off your camera when you thought that you were turning it on. Now you just turn it on before you begin shooting your station and it will automatically shut off 30 seconds later.

Because you have better things to think about than what your camera is doing.

There is no need to snap your gun closed or open with the correct force or to move it with the correct speed and acceleration.

Another bonus is that your file sizes will all be of consistent size and length, making it very easy to search out every station for later viewing and critique.

If you prefer to shut off your camera manually, we still support that option, It is all controlled by a single switch.

Crosshair Alignment
As before, there is no need for users to manually adjust the crosshairs. When you mount your camera to your gun, the mechanical design of the camera will automatically align it correctly.

Tachyon GunCam for Clays mounts easily and securely beneath the barrel of your gun. It is light, but rugged, and invisible from the shooter’s point of view.

Our software imposes crosshairs in the center of the Full-HD 1080p video, showing you where your gun is pointed. We mechanically designed the camera’s casing so that when mounted it will consistently point to the same spot, ensuring that videos of your shooting will be will be an accurate learning tool.

Note that the GunCam for Clays will not have the same perfection of accuracy that is required with a sniper rifle and scope, but it will be accurate enough for shotgun work and be consistent.
